Fundraising
Cricket has been played at Quality Street in Merstham since 1864 and as we approach our 150th anniversary we pride ourselves on being part of our local community. We have built partnerships with 16 local schools and colleges providing them with coaches to run cricket sessions for children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience cricket. We plan to extend this in 2010 by offering cricket coaching to 4 local special needs schools. We also work with the Route 4 Alternative Education programme in our local secondary school.
We are a growing club with over 250 members, fielding 6 senior teams, and 11 junior teams from under 8 to under 17. Our Quality Street ground hosts over 125 club games of cricket per season as well as 4 schools festivals, inter-school matches and Surrey youth matches .
We are particularly proud of our thriving Colts section which offers cricket coaching in a safe and fun environment for children from age six to sixteen. We encourage all our junior cricketers to take part in, and enjoy, cricket regardless of ability. We also run a separate training session for our recently formed girls squad.
