Cardiac Screening Information
Posted by Rosemary AttridgeBelow is some important information for club members on cardiac screening taking place soon, given to us by Rosemary Attridge
CRY SCREENING
Dear All,
At long last we have sorted a date for the screening I am organising. It will be on Sunday October 19th 2008 at Reigate Manor Hotel. The first 50 appointments will be between 10am and 1pm. They will then stop for lunch and start again about 1.40pm
The first 50 morning places are being subsidised by Round Table. It will show as free on the screen but you do need to pay me £10 towards it. Please send this to me at 11Orchard Road, Reigate, RH2 0PA as soon as you have booked your appointment. When the 50 morning places have gone (first come, first served), an afternoon appointment will cost you the full £35.00, which you pay online when you book. If the 50 morning appointments are filled, the £10 donations will be used to subsidise more appointments in the afternoon.
Before you begin, you need to have your Doctor's name, full address and telephone number to hand.
To book your place:
- Go onto the CRY website www.c-r-y.org.uk
- Click on SCREENING
- Click on the purple writing that says "if anyone in your family between the ages of 14 -35 would like to be screened".
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Surrey Screening' under Other Screening Events.
- Change the month on the calendar to October.
- The 50 morning appointments have been placed under ‘Reigate Rugby Club' by mistake (unless I get it changed), but please ignore this - this is still the same screening event. The afternoon appointments are under ‘Surrey Screening'.
- If a time is available, it will be shown on the button to the right of the time - click this button.
- Fill in all your details - every box needs to be filled. If the patient is over 18, write ‘Over 18' in the box.
- Click on ‘Book' at the bottom of the page and you will be directed to a confirmation page.
If you have any problems with booking process, please contact me on 01737 241707 or 07957 581423.
When you have made your appointment, please email me on theattridges@btconnect.com so I can keep track of who has booked.

U15 GREAT VICTORY TONIGHT
Posted by Youth SectionCongratulations on winning the U15 LEAGUE a big success for all the team and coaches they have played to such a high standard all season. The early loss of Deans to some very good accurate bowling by Lingfield proved that Powell and Preston batted with superb skills keeping the fielders busy! Lingfield 108/20 overs Merstham 110/18overs
League Record !
Posted by Chris LoweMerstham 3rd X1 202 for 9 declared
Wallington 121 for 8
Being put into bat on a good flat track was an unusual experience for the 3rds. All the normal things happened after that, middle order collapse, getting out to stupid shots, moaning about how unfortunate they were etc etc.... then at 121 for 9 about par for the course as it were Omer Shuja(31*) and Chris Lowe(31*) put on an undefeated 81 runs for the 10th wicket ! Yes, I could write that again.!!! A new League record !!!!! Lucky? Of course, but who cares. Safyan Aslam scored 45 runs earlier on and opener Farook Naseer 17, nothing much else worth mentioning.
In return John Young recorded his best bowling performance with 9 overs 2 maidens 5 for 17, excellent. The only problem was is that we did not bowl them out. A thoroughly deserved Winning Draw, the only team today not to win but, we probably felt just as much satisfaction as a win, because to score so many runs and declare is a very rare event. Congratulations to the 1's and 2's on their victories. 600 runs scored by all three teams. This club is really making progress.

Saturday 4th Team?
Posted by Chris LoweThis week and in future weeks, we may have enough players to field a 4th team on Saturday that would play friendlies and go to conference. If you are available and a paid up club member, then let me know a.s.a.p.
3rds off to convincing start
Posted by Chris LoweThe 3rd XI have won their first game of the season by 95 runs, a friendly away to Reigate Priory VI.
Batting first, Merstham started slowly with only John Young (36) putting in a significant contribution from the top order, which saw the loss of 3 wickets without score. It was left to the lower order to pick up the run rate and post a respectable total. A vital last wicket partnership from Farooq Naseer and Safyan Aslam saw the total reach 145-9 off 40 overs.
The Merstham attack started with Safyan and Liam Powell, who were told to pitch it up on a slow and damp pitch, Powell producing a wicket with his first ball. With good accurate bowling from a muliple seam attack, Merstham bowled Priory out for 50. Wickets were shared by Safyan, Liam, John Young, Omar, Farooq and Gary.
This was a tremendous start for the team and spirits were high. We now look forward to our Fullers League campaign with great expectation.
As usual the thirds put in another fine bowling and fielding display. However, if we are to improve on our league position this year the batting must improve. Once this is achieved we shall be a force to be reckoned with!
