Due to the short notice of this cancellation we have not been able to book nets at St Bedes so there is no training this evening

Merstham posted 126 runs off their 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. The highlight of the Merstham innings being a quick fire 50 runs off just 18 balls by Robert Durling ably supported by Jamie Inglis who contributed 38. In reply SRK were only able to muster 93 for 6 with O. Baker top scoring with 20 handing Merstham the victory by 33 runs

Surrey cricket club receives £20,000 grant

Merstham Cricket Club in Surrey has received a £20,000 grant from Biffa Award, a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK.

The money will be used to install a land drainage system into two acres of newly acquired land, which has recently been transformed from agricultural use. This facility will provide additional playing facilities for the club’s junior section, which currently boasts 230 members including girls and disabled youngsters.

BELLWAY HOMES CEMENT THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH MERSTHAM CRICKET CLUB

As part of their community plans Bellway Homes based in Merstham are assisting the local cricket club with their redevelopment. Merstham CC is constructing new changing rooms and disabled facilities at their Quality Street ground. These will enable them to continue to provide safe facilities for their growing junior and disabled sections.

Jason Green the managing director of Bellway kindly donated concrete for the foundations and sent along Ros Penton his senior receptionist to oversee the pouring and laying of the concrete last Tuesday.

The project which has also received grants from the English Cricket Board and Surrey County Council is on schedule to be operational at the start of this season.

Merstham CC has four Saturday sides playing league cricket, two Sunday sides and juniors from under eight to under seventeen. It also runs disabled and girls’ sides and hosts the East Surrey schools Kwick Cricket competitions
