On Friday night at Reigate Manor Merstham Cricket club celebrated another very successful year in it's continued development as over 120 members got together at for the annual Dinner and Dance. This year has not only seen a growth in playing members with the introduction of a 4th team on a Saturday as well as a Development team on Sundays. The introduction of U8 and Girls cricket for the first time at the Club was a great success as was the training nights changing to a Friday evening as many parents can bare witness to.The club has also seen recognition from Surrey Mirror with Bernard Feist winning volunteer of the year and more recently the club itself being voted Reigate & Banstead Sports Council's Club of the Year.

On the pitch has also seen success with 3 of the junior teams being crowned league champions, as well as the clubs Saturday 3rd team being promoted to the Surrey Championship as league Runners up. All this was celebrated during the evening as Player of the Year awards were handed out to Dan Feist 1st Team player of the year, Dave Loader 2nd Team player of the year and Ameer Pasha 3rd Team player of the year. The Sunday awards went to Chris Clayson and Paul Hammond with the Perriam Trophy for service to the club being presented to Bernard Feist.

Rounding of his address to the members new Chairman Keith Rivers spoke about the continued development of the club and the possible vision of League cricket for the 4th team, also the continued closer links with the local community and especially the local schools. He was also happy to announce that as part of the future development the vision of a new pavilion is at the front of the plans for 2010 and announced a donation of £12,500 to the club to start the process of this plan. Finally, after over 3 years work, the club would also achieve the Clubmark status in the next couple of months.

Some would think this would be a quiet time for the club, but plans are already under way for next season with Winter training set to start in January as well as the Indoor cricket league, also over the winter it is hoped another 5 members will take their coaching awards including some of the new development team.
