The first of two games for the U10s last weekend was a cup match against Sanderstead. Merstham batted first and posted a score of 273 losing 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Highest scoring pair was Luis Grainger and Samuel Solomons scoring 19 in their 4 overs. When taking the field Merstham completed a dominant performance restricting the opposition to 212 taking 14 wickets. Akif Sabir opened the bowling and conceded just 5 runs in his 2 overs. The fielding was excellent and special mention must go to Jasper Parsons for two sharp run-outs.

Sunday’s game was away to Capel, who batted first and posted a challenging total of 325-4 from their 20 overs. Pick of the bowlers were Jasper Parsons with 3-1-15-2 and and Daniel Botma marking his debut with 3-1-11-0. Girl power ruled in the Capel innings with Lottie and Alice scoring 28 and 22. The reply from Merstham totalled 281-10 from our 20 overs. Highest pair was Jasper Parsons and Noah Bateman making 34 runs.

After the disappointment of the previous week's result against the Eagles, the U9 Hawks bounced back with a tremendous all-round team performance to beat Salfords by 17 runs.  Jacob Law scored 17 and Dinuk Jayamanne and Harry Colbourne each contributed 11 to a Hawk's total of 272, which Salfords never looked likely to match - particularly when six Hawks players took wickets, with Daniel Greaves taking two.

However, in the next match Hawks (226) struggled against a very strong Oxted and Limpsfield (321) and, despite an enthusiastic performance in the field (including five wickets for Jacob Law), the team were well beaten.

The U15s lost to Lingfield by 10 wickets in the ESCL cup on May 20.

Highlights were an unbeaten 51 from Peter Edwards and a quick fire 13 from Kieran Reid.

The U11s lost their NEC Cup pairs game against Old Rustlians, scoring 243 runs to their opponents’ 267.

It was a tight match, however a cautious uptake of runs and bowling too many wide balls let Merstham down. There were positive performances from all the players and best bowler was Sam L who bowled three wickets and a catch (by Sid) to his name. Best batsman was Max A who totalled 12 runs and no wickets. Now to focus on the league!
