Merstham under-11s won for the first time this season in the NEC League, against Spencer, scoring 82-6 off 23 overs to Spencer’s 81-6 after 24.

It was a tight game throughout, matching scores with Spencer all the way through. Our wide ball total has improved as has our cautious batting.

Sid bowled two wickets and Vaibhav bowled nine dot balls and only gave away three singles over three overs. The best bowler has to go to George who took two wickets in a maiden over (one for a golden duck) and only gave away nine runs.

A steady start in the batting with Luca totalling 21 runs. Vaibhav finished off the match scoring two fours and a single off four balls. Best batsman goes to Sam L scoring 24 runs including two fours.

The under-9 Eagles defeated Capel, despite starting the game with only eight players.

Capel scored 256 for 10 and the Eagles 267-8.

There was a strong bowling performance notably from Max Thomas, (three wickets), Barney Turner and Hamdam Rashid. This was supported by three direct hit run outs and a catch from Joshua Kenny. When batting, Merstham were given a great start by Turner and Flynn McRobbie with excellent running and calling. Conor Morris provided impetus in the middle order with some big hitting, ably supported by Ben Wright. Turner captained the team with maturity.

Merstham under-13s suffered defeat to Horley, despite another fantastic team performance from the boys. Last season Horley we better than us in all departments, this season we matched them for much of the game.

The result was a loss by 34 runs with Horley scoring 113-2 and Merstham replied with 79-6. A mention to Henry Ryan and Patrick Sawyer who both took a wicket and to Zidane Ali who scored 14 runs.

Against Felbridge and Sunnyside, Merstham lost in the final over.

Merstham scored 97 off 19 overs all out, with their opponents replying with 98-4 off 19.1 overs. There were some great shots from Byron Kenny in scoring 18 runs, hitting three fours. Merstham also saw some great bowling from Jake Belcher getting two wickets for 10 runs, Dinal Jayamanne getting one wicket for six runs.
