Merstham's U11s NEC side won for the second time this season, this time against Southern Railway & Kenley.

Merstham fielded first with Tristan opening the bowling. It was a steady start by Kenley with the first wicket falling in the 5th over bowled by Noah and stumped by Matt L. Jude and James both picked up a wicket each.

Our U9s player Ben L also got a wicket and only gave away five runs off his two overs. Well done to him - and for stepping in at short notice.

Best bowler for this game goes to Tristan. He took four wickets over four overs. Two overs were wicket overs. Well done Tristan. Kenley finished their 24 overs on 135-8, a very respectable target.

Merstham managed to lose a couple of wickets in quick succession at the start of their innings but we managed to steady the batting gaining wides and no balls adding to the total. Sam L scored 29 runs off 27 balls; unfortunately getting caught out 1 run before being retired. Best batman goes to Max scoring 29 runs off 26 balls, scoring 4 runs to win the match.

Well done to Sam L and Max , a good partnership performance.

Merstham finished on 139-6 off 21 overs.

Merstham's U9 Eagles scored 328-4 against Caterham, who made 260-6, giving the Eagles victory by 68 runs.

Merstham's U9 Eagles put on another very strong performance to comfortably beat Caterham in their latest match. Batting first they made 328-4 with only a couple of unfortunate run outs marring a consistently good display.

As usual Eagles were lucky to have Luke Hirchfiield's quality at the top of the order making 12 to get us off to a good start supported by Joshua who looks more poised at the crease with a lovely stance and is starting to hit some quality shots.

Will Carney again combined well with Alexander Bird as he made 13. Will is possibly our most improved batter. At the end of the innings MaxThomas hit a fine 19 followed by a great partnership from Will John-Cox (18) and Michael Noad (13) as our finishers.

In response Caterham had no answer to the quality and depth of our bowling line up. For once Max and Luke weren’t quite on their a game but Will J-C -with his best bowling of the season - and Hamdam Rashid stepped up to the mark. Michael and Will J-C took two wickets and Hamdam and Max one each.

Freddie Steven 's bowling has come on well and his action looked good. Alex's action has also improved and I feel confident he will get his reward by the end of the season. Caterham finished with 260-6.

The boys have generally behaved well through the season showing good sportsmanship. They need to remember to support each other in the field especially in the harder matches.

Another great effort - well done boys.
