Waitrose Open Day / Terry Garrett memorial matches
Our annual open day will be combined with a chance to honour the memory of Terry Garrett, our treasurer for two decades who died in the spring.
Firstly, we are very grateful to Margaret Garrett who is leading the organisation of refreshments for the players on the open day.
Secondly we are still on the hunt for former members who would have known Terry and who might like to turn out to play.
It is planned to have three teams and have each playing twice in a 15 overs a side tournament, with matches starting at roughly 10.30am, 1pm and 4pm.
Several “retired” members have come forward wanting to play and if anyone is in touch with former players who would like to join in, please put them in touch with Ian Lamont, our information officer, on 07719 391179 or via email.
This event is open to all club members to enjoy too, including from the junior section and disability section, so anyone who wants to put their name forward should get in touch.
Several former members who no longer play have also said they will come along to watch, so this promises to be a great social occasion.
While lunch and tea will be laid on for players, the idea, as for last year’s 150th anniversary celebrations, is for everyone who comes along to bring a picnic. The bar will be open all day and we look forward to seeing you there, perhaps enjoying putting names to faces on the pictures on the walls of the clubhouse.
