AGM report

IL
Ian Lamont 24 January, 2016

At the club’s agm, the officers standing again were all re-elected, plus club captain Richard Feist and treasurer Chris Clayson were elected as joint vice chairmen. Several other non-elected committee members were re-appointed.

Bobby Sharp will continue as fixtures secretary for now and has done the majority of the fixtures arranging for the summer, but this will require someone else to deal with rearranged fixtures during the season.

First team captain Nav Saeed agreed to help with this. Simone Murrough stepped down as overall juniors co-ordinator and others have picked up various strands of the role required.

All enquiries from prospective junior players should be directed to club captian Richard Feist in the first instance (see end for details).

The third team will be playing in a re-arranged league this year, which combines Fuller’s League and Championship divisions which are merging. This will mean 22 fixtures for our third team this season.

Annual subscription rates and match fees remain unchanged. Members should re-register via the website for the coming season. Like last year, you can choose to set up a direct debit, pay by PayPal, direct bank transfer or old fashioned cash/cheque. No matter how you intend to pay, please fill in the online registration form first. It only takes a few minutes. The website will be accepting registrations from the 1st February.

This coming season any adults playing twice a week will still get a discount, but will need to pay the full Saturday fee on the Saturday, making up the rest on a Sunday. This is so the club can better track the payment of match fees.

This season, the Sunday 1st team captain will be Ben Carter, who will lead a young team regularly throughout the season, not just across the Trust League fixtures. The other Sunday team will be led by Jon White and Bill Ash.

Chairman Graeme Attridge, re-elected for the ninth year, noted that successive promotions by the first team and the second team last season have made this the most successful period in his memory at the club, possibly the best in the club's history.

The Bank Holiday August match played in memory of Terry Garrett last season will now be played annually, in memory of all those who have died after long service to the club.

A hearing by a Secretary of State for the Environment inspector, concerning the club's application to put a container on The Ring to store equipment to maintain the pitch, is set for June and it is hoped this can be brought forward. In the meantime, the pitch will be thoroughly rolled before the season begins.

Best wishes for the season - we look forward to seeing you.
