Duo honoured! And Disability side start season
Two players from Merstham Cricket Club made the Surrey Championship honours board this week after great bowling performances last Saturday.
Joe Benson, from the second XI who defeated Old Hamptonians at Quality Street, and James Lowe, from the third XI who beat Wallington after the hosts scored 53, both took five wickets to make the list of top 20 bowlers.
Lowe's 5-18 earned 13th place and Benson's 5-19 earned 14th spot.
Meanwhile, this week the disability squad played Priory Deaf in what is going to be a once a month challenge with games to be played at Merstham in June and August and Priory in July.
The game showed exceptional ability with Magics taking six wickets in Priory's total of 276-6 off 12 overs in a pairs game.
A great catch was taken by Alex Dixon who also took two run outs and Ben Lankshear and Matt Duggan bowled two Priory batsmen each.
In response, Magics finished on 260-6 with positive running and some lusty blows at the end by Alex Dixon and James Roulston not quite enough to see the magics home to a victory.
