Time to register for new season as indoor nets begin

Indoor nets start from Saturday February 4th / Sunday February 5th and run for 10 weeks. It is a measure of the club’s success and popularity that they are now split across two days, at St Bede’s School, Redhill, to accommodate more juniors.

A new year means it is time to renew your club subscription, as a player or social member - registration is now open for 2017 on the website.

At the AGM, the club’s annual subscription rates remained unchanged, being £80 for adults for a full season, £45 for students over 16 and £65 for students Under 16. Under U8s are £35, Girls £20 and social members £25.

Adults:

The annual subscription can be paid in monthly instalments, up to 10 months, and there is also an option to pay an ‘all inclusive’ subscription of £285 (£145 for students), that includes all match fees regardless of how many matches you play.

Juniors:

Juniors must confirm with their age group managers before registering as the junior section continues to be very popular. The manager will then issue you a code that will allow you to register.

Our annual general meeting was held at Quality Street on Tuesday January 17, 2017, where chairman Graeme Attridge emphasised that he had now served 10 years as chairman.

In his report, he said that we had another successful year on the pitch with the adult first and second teams winning their divisions, resulting in Merstham Cricket Club having four Saturday teams in the Surrey Championship for the first time. There was also continued success at junior level. But he added that more was needed from players in terms of volunteering to make the club successful.

The club would also be striding to improve the Saturday 3rd and 4th teams, he added.

The officers of the club were re-elected, while there were some changes to some senior team captains. Gopa Nair is now Saturday fourth team captain, with Ian Lamont vice-captain, while Ben Snelling will be Sunday 1st team/development team captain.
