Foodbank collection Saturday April 10th
As we approach the season, Merstham Cricket Club is continuing its support of local foodbanks with its latest monthly collection, on Saturday April 10th, with drop off from 12-2pm.
The Covid-19 pandemic continues to put extra pressure on families. Did you know there are more than 2,000 foodbanks now operating in the UK, (according to the Trussell Trust)?
Our club's efforts have really been appreciated by St Matthew's Church and Loveworks, the two foodbanks locally that we have supported since last summer.
And now we are calling for your donations once again. While any packeted or tinned item would be appreciated, below is a list of items that are particularly urgently needed at St Matthew's:
Priority list: Tinned spaghetti (e.g. spaghetti hoops), tinned vegetarian meals, tinned meat meals, tinned chicken soup, long life milk, cereals (not porridge please), mash (packet), noodles (packet), instant coffee, laundry tablets (not liquid), washing up liquid.
Getting low: Instant rice (microwaveable), Cream Crackers, Hot chocolate, squash, Chocolate spread, Ketchup, Sweetcorn, handwash, Shampoo, toothbrushes (no brushes), toilet rolls, soap.
So if you can help, just bring your items to us between 12-2pm on April 10th. For Covid secure reasons, just put them in your car boot and let our volunteers take them out without you getting out of the car. Simply drive into Quality Street, follow the signs, open the boot (or tell a volunteer how) and thereby leave your items with us. We're planning another drop off on Saturday March 13th, too.
