Merstham Cricket Club Diversity Statement
In the light of the necessary, relevant and continuing conversation about racism in cricket, which can be read about here, Merstham Cricket Club wish to confirm that there is no place for racism or any form of discrimination within cricket or society.
We are open to all quarters of the wider community and will not tolerate any discrimination based upon sex, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other belief.
The Independent Commission for Equity on Cricket (ICEC) has launched its public Call for Evidence, asking for everyone in cricket to share their perceptions and experiences of discrimination and inclusion in cricket. We encourage everyone to do this, regardless of background, and the survey can be found here.
Further information around why this is needed can be found on the ECB's website here, and details around the ICEC can be found here.
We are also keen to ensure our own club and our members feel able to speak out regarding any concerns or potential issues internally. If you have shared any experiences with the ICEC survey and you wish us to also be aware, then please report these to welfare@mersthamcc.co.uk. If you are not comfortable reporting via email then please contact a member of the Welfare Committee in confidence. (Richard Feist,Amy Reeves, Ali Pervaiz)
Any internal feedback received will only be shared with and reviewed by our new diversity sub-committee to be chaired by Richard Feist. We want to be the best club that we can possibly be and this group will thoroughly review the processes and policies within the Club and work with Surrey CC and the ECB to ensure they are fit for purpose. Any proposed changes will then be recommended to the Main Committee, in addition to raising any key areas of concern.
Thank you,
Richard Feist
Club Chairman
