Club AGM - New Captains elected, Subs will not rise for this season

SG
Simon Griffin 16 January, 2023

At the club's Annual General Meeting, held Sunday 15th January, it was announced that all adult and junior playing and social fees would remain at 2022 levels. Welcomed by all, its stressed this is only possible due to huge efforts in fundraising last year and the pro-bono work around the club by members. The committee is pleased that in the current economic climate and squeeze on families finances prices can be frozen. We encourage anyone to get in touch if cost is an issue to playing cricket in 2023, it should never be a barrier to participation.

Thanks to the 2022 playing committee as some new and familiar captains were elected for 2023:

Saturday 1st XI - Noman Javed (C) Humayoon Nasir, Jaikumar Uvaraju (VC's)
Saturday 2nd XI - Luke Saunders (C) Fergus Carrick (VC)
Saturday 3rd XI - George Corrie (C) Ben Jones (VC)
Saturday 4th XI - Andy Clark (C ) Richard Pitt (VC)
Saturday 5th XI - Jon White (C) Thomas Kenny (VC)
Sunday 1st XI / Development XI - Afsar Khan/ Ben Jones (C's) Rob Harris (Manager)
Sunday 2nd XI - Vamsi Bhogireddy, Steve Duncan (C's)
Women's - Ali Rustage (C) Emma Smith (VC)

Thanks were given to all officers and officials who chose to continue and were unanimously re-elected. The role of Social Secretary is available, contact the Chairman if interested. Nav Saeed is replaced by Alex Reeves as Club Captain. Ian Lamont stood aside and Simon Griffin takes up Comms. Vamsi is our newly created Inclusion Officer and Martin Fisher working with the community and on outreach. Max Yates is ably filling Junior Captain to the committee to strengthen the transition between Under 17's joining the adult playing ranks.

Rich Feist (Chairman) delivered his report in quick T20 fashion [provided in the Annual Report below] and Chris Clayson (Treasurer) ably guided us through our finances. In the last few months lots has been happening around the club including new cricket nets and the main pitch square refurbishment. None of these improvement initiatives would be possible without the continued support of our membership, too many names to mention! It is greatly appreciated.

Special mention to the grounds volunteers who carried on the sterling work of Bernard Feist and which limited the amount we had to spend on contractors to maintain the pitch. We are indebted to Bernard and now Alex and others who are pitching in up to 15hrs a week each, saving the club thousands. Thanks was also given to all the adult and junior volunteers who put in a lot of work week by week during the playing season but also in our special events this year, notably the Family Fun Day.

The bar was well run and thus well used last year, thanks to Alex Reeves - many visitors mentioned the good range to choose from and (unfortunately for them!) ease in paying now contactlessly.

However, the ease in which to use the card machine to pay match fees by card has been missed by some players week to week and it was noted match fee payments must improve next year. There is a proposal to increase our use of Spond for this as well as its success for selection matters each week and further comms will follow on this development prior to the start of the season.

It was great to see a healthy number of members at the club again after a few months to recharge the batteries and there was a buzz of excitement in the air ahead of the new 2023 season.

The annual report and finances are available here - Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for Year ending 30/09/2022

The Secretary's official minutes will be available during the course of the season.
