As part of the clubs affiliation with Surrey County Cricket Club, we have 30 free tickets for this Friday's Royal London One Day Cup match vs Somerset at The Oval.

Play commences at 11am and tickets are free to any club members who have registered and paid their subs (or on direct debit scheme). Seating is unreserved, so you can sit anywhere, except the pavilion.

The under 13s started the season with a win in the Surrey Cup and a first win against local rivals Horley for this age group.

The batting started well with an opening stand of 41, Adam Swan out for 27, (three short of the retirement mark of 30) partnered by Alvin Sathay.

The season is finally here! Whilst the ground at Quality Street is still a little soft, tonight's training, BBQ and Quiz Night will go ahead as planned.

Please note, the grass carpark is very soft, so to try and avoid cars becoming stuck we ask you to please park parallel to the hedge (i.e.  cars facing North to South rather than East to West as is usually the case). This should avoid drivers trying to reverse up the hill and getting stuck.

Our first team captain Laurie Nicholson, who set the club record for an individual run score in one game of 173 last season, is due to appear on the first SusyRadio cricket show of the season on Thursday, May 3.

The show, called 'On The Front Foot', runs from 7-9pm on the 103.4FM station. The community radio station is based in Merstham and covering East Surrey and West Sussex.   The show is scheduled for the first Thursday of each month. Running for a third year, it has been developed by hosts David Jay and Tim Bowling to throw the spotlight on local cricket, as well as talking about the national game. Jay also reads out a round-up of local cricket match reports throughout the season, on his Wednesday afternoon music show.

There will be no training for juniors this Friday, or games for adults this weekend, at Merstham Cricket Club, because the ground remains extremely wet.   However, should anyone be available to help with work at the ground which still needs doing ahead of the season, groundsman Bernard Feist will be at the ground from noon and club captain Richard Feist will be there from 2.45pm.   After the cancellation of the second half of NatWest Cricket Force recently there are still several jobs to do, such as preparing the nets. All help is welcome.

For those who missed out on today's chance to join in with the NatWest Cricket Force weekend activities at Merstham Cricket Club, there will be another chance next Saturday.

That is because tomorrow's (Sunday's) activities have been postponed because of the weather forecast. The holes have been filled on Quality Street's driveway - and the Ring has been given a clean. But there are still plenty of things to do. So come armed with gloves, sturdy shoes, brooms, clippers and other gardening equipment from 10am next Saturday!
